World leaders gathered on Tuesday for the second day and plenary session of the Paris summit on artificial intelligence, as U.S. willingness to sign onto a statement championing sustainable AI remained in question.

Touzet is SaferAI’s head of policy, producing AI policy research and leading stakeholder engagement. Prior to this role, she spent five years as a policy researcher at the OECD. She holds a PhD in political economy from the University of Oxford.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that the Paris AI summit was “a wakeup call” for a European strategy to get competitive in a tech world now dominated by the U.S. and China. Macron touted newly-announced investments in France worth 109 billion euros over the next five years.
