The Boston Red Sox's newest infielder, Alex Bregman, did his best to try and cool the potentially tense situation with incumbent third baseman Rafael Devers on Tuesday. Unfortunately for Bregman, that train has already left the station.

The newly acquired Red Sox star addressed his new working relationship with Rafael Devers amid controversy over who will play where in the field in 2025.

Former Houston Astros All-Star Alex Bregman signed with the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, ending his nine-year tenure in Texas by accepting a three-year, $120 million deal with the AL East club. Bregman turned down longer-term contracts from the Astros and others for the shorter but higher annual salary deal.

When news broke of the Red Sox signing the star infielder, multiple reports indicated Boston planned to move Bregman from third base to second base. Franchise star Rafael Devers would stay at third base and top prospect Kristian Campbell would focus on the outfield.

Agent Scott Boras reached out by letter to the Detroit Free Press on Monday, claiming that the Detroit Tigers were indeed one of Bregman’s top choices and that Scott Harris had turned down two final contract offers prior to the infielder finally going to Boston.
