Google is stepping up its game in battery management with a new feature called Battery Health Assistance, expected to arrive with Android 16. Aimed at enhancing long-term battery life and maintaining consistent performance, the feature marks a deeper focus on sustainable phone usage. But there’s a limitation, at least for now.

Android 16 now features iOS-style live notifications on the lock screen for real-time updates and Google’s new Material 3 Expressive design language. There are new capabilities for safeguarding against theft and scams, along with an updated advanced protection mode to maintain security and privacy for public figures.

While Android 16’s official launch begins with this rollout, many of the standout features—including the refreshed user interface and enhanced battery health tools—will not be part of the initial update. These are scheduled to be introduced later with the Android 16 QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release 1) update.

The Android 16 update is here for Pixel, and it looks like a boring update. There's a lot more to the update than meets the eye, though.
