At least two graduate students whose arrests have been in the news are being held at this former juvenile detention center. Here's what we know about the facility in Jena.

Rümeysa Öztürk, a Tufts University graduate student, was arrested in Massachusetts and sent to the South Louisiana ICE processing center in the swamplands of Evangeline parish in Basile. Sending detainees to the cluster of remote immigration detention centers known as “Detention Alley” in the south is a common practice.

Mahmoud Khalil, who was studying at Columbia, and Alireza Doroudi, from the University of Alabama, are both being held at an ICE processing center in Jena, Louisiana.
