San Francisco is ramping up its efforts to battle a deadly fentanyl crisis with the city's new mayor declaring a state of emergency because of the drug's impact.

San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie on Wednesday will sign an ordinance declaring a state of emergency to address the city’s fentanyl crisis.

The ordinance will allow Mayor Daniel Lurie's administration to bypass bidding processes that can take months and swiftly enter into contracts to address addiction and homelessness.
