Maine men's ice hockey secured its first Hockey East championship since 2004 by defeating UConn on Friday, 5-2 at the TD Garden.

With six Hockey East teams headed to the NCAAs, the league's No. 2 seed this season and its dominant program in its first decade won its first tournament title since 2004.

The Lamoriello Trophy is heading to the Pine Tree State for the first time since 2004. Led by super sophomores Albin Boija and Josh Nadeau, the Black Bears defeated UConn, 5-2, to capture the Hockey East tournament championship Saturday night at the TD Garden.

The Black Bears will be the top seed in Allentown, PA when they take on Penn State in Friday's opening round.

Maine, the Hockey East tournament champion, will play in Allentown, Pa. BC will play in Manchester, N.H. on Thursday; and BU will play in Toledo, Ohio.
