Democrat Mikie Sherrill has won the election for New Jersey governor, Decision Desk HQ projected. Congresswoman Sherrill is projected to defeat Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli and his running mate James Gannon.

The governors race in New Jersey has tightened in the runup to Election Day, but Democrat Mikie Sherrill still maintains her lead over Republican Jack Ciattarelli.

Democratic U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill defeated Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli in New Jersey’s gubernatorial race, according to CNN and NBC.

Ciattarelli and Sherrill have also spent time campaigning in South Jersey, an area that saw voters in Gloucester, Cumberland and Atlantic counties overwhelmingly back Murphy in 2017. However, they swung heavily toward Ciattarelli four years later.
