The Golden State Valkyries are preparing for their first game post-All-Star break when they take on the Dallas Wings Friday evening at Chase Center in San Franc

The Golden State Valkyries will be facing the Connecticut Sun on Sunday morning. In their first time meeting, Golden State came away with an 87-63 win against the Sun. Their game on Sunday at the Mohegan Sun Arena will be the first of five away games for the Valkyries.

Golden State outscored Dallas 76-55 over the final three quarters on Friday after Valkyries All-Star guard Kayla Thornton was ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a right knee injury in practice that required surgery. Hayes led the way for Golden State with 17 points in the win, and Salaun added 16 in Thornton’s absence.

After being held to 30 points in the first half and falling behind by 12 early in the second half, the Valkyries scored 33 points in the third quarter.

With 22 games left in the season, the Valkyries are a half-game behind the Las Vegas Aces for the final playoff spot. Should Golden State make the postseason, it would be the first expansion team to make the playoffs in WNBA history.
