Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday (18 August) said the setbacks in recent years between India and China had not served the interests of the people of either nation, stressing that the present moment offered "an important opportunity of improvement and growth" in ties.
“On the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar … Mr Wang Yi is visiting Islamabad for co-chairing the sixth Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue on August 21, 2025,” FO’s statement issued here on Tuesday said.
Wang Yi’s visit is the first by a Chinese minister since PM Narendra Modi met Xi Jinping in Kazan last year and set the stage for the disengagement of troops along the LAC in eastern Ladakh.
