An outage at Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing platform that powers much of the internet, went down for several hours Monday, making several major websites and apps inoperable.
Many college and K-12 students were unable to access assignments or course materials Monday morning as the learning management platform Canvas reported widespread connectivity issues caused by an Amazon Web Services outage.
More than 1,000 companies had 6.5 million reports of disruption, including Snapchat, Reddit, Roblox and Lloyds bank.
