No previous Mega Millions drawings on Halloween have produced jackpot winners, according to lottery officials.

An Ohio man who forgot his $50 winning lottery ticket at home decided to buy another of the same Best of 7's scratch-off game and scored a $500,000 prize.

CHARDON, Ohio (WKRC) - An Ohio woman said she plans on spoiling her cats after winning thousands of dollars. According to a press release from the Ohio Lottery, an woman from Chardon, Ohio, followed her intuition and purchased a $300,000,000 Extreme Cash scratch-off ticket on Oct. 22, winning $50,000.

The winning numbers for the Oct. 27 drawing were 17, 39, 43, 51, 66 and the Powerball was 20. The Powerplay was 2X. The estimated jackpot for that drawing was $358 million with a cash value of $170.7 million.

A southeast Ohio man couldn’t believe it after he won $2 million while playing a scratch-off game from the Ohio Lottery.

She told the Ohio Lottery that her win “came at the absolute right time.” She also said she plans to spend her winnings on some bills, to do some remodeling and to spoil her cats. After mandatory state and federal taxes of 27.125%, the winner will get $36,437.50.

The winner, whose name was not released, told lottery officials a rescheduled doctor’s appointment led them to buy the ticket a day earlier than originally planned.

Although he has won smaller prizes in the past, he said he never thought he would win something this big. But, using a “top-secret family formula for picking his numbers based on notes tracking previous wins” helped lead him to the huge win, lottery officials said.

According to a media release, the Roseville man told lottery officials that since he had just won on a Best of 7’s ticket, he figured that he would play the same game again. After he scratched the ticket off in his car, the lottery said he “ almost got sick ” and was in “ complete disbelief .”
