In one of the wildest NBA playoff games ever at Madison Square Garden, the Pacers, trailing by 16 points in the fourth quarter, rallied past the Knicks in a 138-135 overtime thriller in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday night.

The New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers reached the Eastern Conference finals by virtue of a record number of ridiculous comebacks. That bore out in Game 1.

Still, because Haliburton's foot was on the line, the Knicks could avoid making history if they could recover in overtime. Instead, it was much of the same as the Pacers kept rolling, with Andrew Nembhard doing most of the damage with seven points in the extra period.

As we've seen this season and in the playoffs, the Knicks too often require a kick in the behind when they struggle against the top teams.

The Knicks will have to dig deep and bring their best for Game 3 as they avoid going down an inescapable hole vs. the Pacers.
