Snow has been patiently waiting for her forever home at Phoenix Animal Rescue for about a year after being rescued as a stray. She's a volunteer favorite with a big smile and an even bigger heart! Snow loves going for walks and stays calm when she sees other dogs.
ADOT and the Department of Public Safety rescued and returned a dog to its family on New Year's Eve after eyeing it on a traffic camera in west Phoenix.
Phoenix was out for a morning walk with his owner in Westerly when he wandered onto Little Masachaug Pond and fell through a thin layer of ice.
The Fire Department noted, "No ice is ever safe. Our firefighters train extensively for cold water and ice rescues, but these situations are extremely dangerous."
Firefighters and veterinarians say the rescue of a dog that fell through the ice should serve as a warning to pet owners during winter.
