Seattle weather: Damp, dark at times this weekend
After another chilly start to the day across Puget Sound, we expect highs to range in the upper 50s to the low 60s this afternoon. We're forecasting dry skies for the Mariners game tonight!
There might only be one thing on the mind of Mariners fans this weekend, but that’s not the only big thing happening this weekend in Seattle.
On Friday, the Seattle Mariners hosted the Detroit Tigers for a winner-take-all Game 5 of the American League Division Series (ALDS) at T-Mobile Park. In a 15-inning thriller, the Mariners walked it off with a Jorge Polanco hit to clinch a spot in the AL Championship Series for the first time since 2001.
Seattle will face traffic disruptions due to sports events and the Revive I-5 project, causing major road closures.
Saturday, the University of Washington Huskies football team will travel to Michigan to battle the Wolverines. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 a.m. Meanwhile, the Huskies’ cross-state rivals, the Washington State University Cougars, will head to Virginia to play the Cavaliers. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
A strong cold front is expected to plow through western Washington on Saturday dumping rain in the lowlands and snow for the mountains and higher passes again. Snow levels will start near 7,000-8,000 feet on Saturday and drop to 4,000 feet during the afternoon on Sunday.
The National Weather Service reports clear, sunny weather in Seattle with highs around 60 degrees, turning overcast with a chance of rain later in the week.
In the latest in a series of mass protests since President Donald Trump took office, "No Kings" rallies and marches will be held at more than 2,500 locations nationwide on Oct. 18, including the Southern Tier of New York and beyond.
