The Los Angeles Angels have acquired right-handed starter Ian Anderson from the Atlanta Braves in a trade for disappointing left-hander José Suárez.
The Braves are poised to acquire left-hander Jose Suarez from the Angels, according to a report from Ari Alexander of KPRC2.
Ian Anderson’s days with the Braves came to a close on Sunday afternoon, when he was traded to the Angels in exchange for left-handed reliever José Suarez, the team announced.
Anderson, who hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2022, had been fighting for a spot back in the Braves rotation.
Anderson, a 26-year-old right-hander, will begin the season in the bullpen as the Angels send the left-handed Suarez, 27, to Atlanta.
Suarez, who had pitched well in his first three outings, gives up six runs and records just two outs in a 13-6 Cactus League defeat. Mickey Moniak hits a two-run homer.
