OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — The first case of measles in Michigan in 2025 has been confirmed in Oakland County. Health officials say the measles case was detected in an Oakland County adult who recently returned from international travel, CBS News Detroit reports. The individual’s vaccination status is unknown.

"And honestly, we got very lucky because the only other exposures are those two visits to the emergency room," Guzman said. "It's a very unusual in a measles case."

An Oakland County adult is the first measles patient in Michigan since July 2024. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Oakland County Health Division confirmed the case at a press conference Friday afternoon, March 14.

The patient is an adult who recently returned from international travel. Officials traced two places where the public may have been exposed.
