President Donald Trump has deployed at least 300 California National Guard troops to Los Angeles to respond to immigration protests, over the objections of California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Trump initially said he was deploying 2,000 troops.

The National Guard was deployed in Los Angeles Sunday morning as President Trump responded to days of protest against federal immigration raids. Now, questions are being raised about the legality of the president mobilizing the guard without a request from the state's governor.
