In her morning news conference on Tuesday, Sheinbaum was asked about Trump’s statements a day prior, when he expressed displeasure with Mexico and mused about taking forceful action. “It’s not going to happen,” Sheinbaum replied in Spanish.

The president said he has not ruled out putting U.S. forces on the ground but signaled for a second day running that he could be open to talking to Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela’s leader.

Since Trump was sworn in to a second term in office in January, the US government has been increasing its pressure on Maduro.
