In a major development, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has constituted a high-level committee to investigate the tragic Air India flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad, which claimed 265 lives — marking the deadliest aviation disaster in Indian history.

These are only early-stage hypothesis and the actual reasons will only be determined once investigations are complete and after recovery and analysis of the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR).

An Air India aircraft, carrying 220 passengers and 12 crew members, crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport. The incident occurred near the Meghani Nagar area as the plane was en route to London.
