DPA International on MSNEU Commission submits €2tn budget including massive boost for defenceThe European Commission plans to boost the long-term EU budget to a total volume of €2 trillion ($2.3 trillion) for the years 2028 to 2034, EU Budget Commissioner Piotr Serafin told the European Parliament in Brussels on Wednesday.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday unveiled the EU's proposed new budget for 2028-2340, calling it a "budget for a new era".
Brussels will propose that fruit, vegetable and milk in schools should be “Made in Europe” as part of a wider push to favour domestic industries from defence to agriculture.
Britain is now closely aligned with Brussels on 21 policy areas, up from four at the beginning of the year. They include defence and security, energy and competition policy.
