Human remains have been found in a suitcase that was drifting in the East River in New York City, police said.

The New York Police Department’s Harbor Unit pulled the remains out of the river near Governor's Island around 5:30 p.m.

Officials confirmed the remains belonged to Aubrey Dameron, a member of the Cherokee Nation who went missing in 2019.
