Jackie Bezos, a fierce protector of her son Jeff before he founded Amazon.com and a deep-pocketed advocate for early childhood education, has died. She was 78.

Bezos announced on Instagram that his mother, Jacklyn, died inside her Miami home after a battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

The Bezos Family Foundation announced the news of Jackie's passing on Thursday, saying she died peacefully at her Miami home. The Foundation did not reveal a cause of death but did note that the 78-year-old Bezos had been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2020.
