A 3-4 or 4-3 for the new Bears defensive coordinator won't make a lot of difference to the team's personnel department says GM Ryan Poles.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff has had a 102.7 passer rating the last three seasons with Johnson as his offensive coordinator, compared to 91.5 before that. The Bears are hoping Johnson will develop quarterback Caleb Williams in a way that former coach Matt Eberflus and his staff couldn’t.

General manager Ryan Poles will lead the search, alongside a committee that also includes president Kevin Warren, chairman George McCaskey, as well as assistant GM Ian Cunningham (when available amid interviews), director of football admin Matt Feinstein, senior director of player personnel Jeff King and chief HR officer Liz Geist.
