The president of Syria arrived in Jordan after a night of confusion in southern Syria as locals reported Israeli airstrikes.

By bna Cairo bureau Jordan's King Abdullah II received Syria's interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa upon his arrival at Marka Airport for a visit to the Kingdom, with the two leaders proceeding directly to Raghadan Palace for their first discussions since al-Sharaa assumed office,

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa arrived in Jordan on Wednesday, his third foreign visit since taking office, while Israeli airstrikes targeted military positions in Syria.

Adding to the tension, Hamas accused Israel Monday of a ceasefire breach and said it is pausing future releases of hostages.

Jordan's King Abdullah told Syria's interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa after a meeting in Amman on Wednesday he condemned Israeli attacks on Syria, a palace statement said. The two neighbours agreed that coordination was crucial for border security and curbing arms and rampant drug smuggling that Jordan struggled to contain along its border during former Syrian President Bashar Assad's rule,
