Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser suffered a broken left thumb while sliding back into first base on Sunday, has been placed on the injured list.

In a corresponding move, the Orioles recalled switch-hitting outfielder Dylan Carlson from Triple-A Norfolk.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser is expected to miss at least six weeks with a broken left thumb. Baltimore put Cowser on the 10-day injured list Monday before its home opener against Boston.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that he expects Cowser to be out "probably 6-to-8 weeks minimum" after the outfielder was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a fractured left thumb, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
