Rescuers and aid workers fanned out across Jamaica on Saturday to distribute food and water and reach communities still isolated four days after Hurricane Melissa hit the island.

Insured losses from Hurricane Melissa's strike on Jamaica are expected to range between $2.2 billion and $4.2 billion, according to estimates from data analytics firm Verisk .

The Houston Caribbean community held a town hall discussing aid for those impacted by Hurricane Melissa. Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica as a Category 5 storm and has left widespread devastation.

Hurricane Melissa brought hurricane-force gusts to Bermuda overnight and will weaken as it heads north, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. Maps show its forecast path.

The BBC's Will Grant witnessed the devastation in the town of Black River, as he joined an aid helicopter flight over the island.

Now, satellite images reveal in detail the areas ravaged by Melissa and, for hard-hit Black River, the scale of destruction. A Bloomberg News analysis found that at least 76% of the buildings in Black River, a port community near where the hurricane crashed into the Jamaica coast, were damaged, many with collapsed roofs.

Hurricane Melissa is expected to weaken into an extratropical cyclone on Friday, Oct. 31, the National Hurricane Center said.
