Last week, Super Smash Bros. creator and father of Kirby, Masahiro Sakurai, said that we should be finally seeing some gameplay from his upcoming Switch 2 racing game, Kirby Air Riders, "soon." By soon I assumed that meant in an upcoming Nintendo Direct in September when Nintendo typically holds one, but turns out it's even sooner than that.

Kirby Air Riders Is Letting King Dedede, Meta Knight, Waddle Dee, Others Use Copy Abilities for the First Time

During today's Nintendo Direct dedicated to Kirby Air Riders, Masahiro Sakurai revealed that for the purpose of gameplay balance, every character in Kirby Air Riders will have the same copy abilities as Kirby. As he explains it:

We Might Be Getting An Update About Sakurai's New Kirby Game Soon

This latest update on Kirby Air Riders follows the game getting an official classification last month. Sakurai also mentioned in July how the title was "shaping up to be something great". Again, Kirby Air Riders is scheduled for 2025, so hopefully we'll at least get some gameplay footage soon.
