A “potent” weather system will enter North and Central Texas on Wednesday, steering the development of a dryline, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. A dryline is the boundary separating dry and moist air masses, where severe thunderstorms often develop.

Severe, isolated storms with threats of large hail and damaging wind gusts may develop in North Texas on Wednesday, NWS Fort Worth posted on X. There is also a slight threat of a tornado, according to NWS Fort Worth. The storms are expected to materialize east of Interstate 35 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

One person has died and at least four others were injured when severe storms rolled through North Texas on Saturday morning, officials said. According to the Ennis Police Department, a 42-year-old man from Midlothian was killed when Ennis "experienced a severe weather incident this morning."

Severe storms that brought large hail to parts of North Texas on Saturday, March 8, hospitalized four people, damaged homes and knocked down power lines and trees, officials said. The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said on social media that the storms caused significant damage in the area.

This weekend across North Texas, it will be cooler than earlier in the week, with rain chances lingering. CBS News Texas meteorologists issued a First Alert Weather Day for Saturday due to the severe storm chances as well as a cold front that will drop temperatures by as much as 30 degrees from the day before.
