The U.S. president was given three options for sanctions after running out of patience with the Kremlin over the Ukraine war.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday delivered his first direct response to new U.S. sanctions imposed on Russia, calling them an “unfriendly act” that will not significantly harm the country’s economy.

Defence Secretary John Healey has a message for Russian President Vladimir Putin: "We're hunting your submarines." There has been a "30% rise in Russian vessels threatening UK waters", he says. This, according to Healey, is evidence of increased "Russian aggression right across the board" which he says is impacting Europe, not just Ukraine.

President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are no longer meeting in Budapest as was announced just last week.

A preparatory meeting between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was also canceled.
