The Ultimate Fighting Championship is looking to get more than $1 billion a year from its next media-rights deal, according to people with knowledge of the matter, more than double what the current contract holder ESPN pays.

Mark Zuckerberg, one of Facebook’s founders and CEO of Meta, announced three new additions to his company’s board of directors on Monday. One of those elected was Dana White, CEO and president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Mr. White, a close ally of President-elect Donald J. Trump, further strengthens the social media giant’s connections with the incoming administration.
