WASHINGTON, Oct 25 (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Saturday that food benefits under one of the country's biggest social assistance programs will not be issued next month amid the ongoing federal government shutdown.
The USDA confirmed its position that effective Nov. 1, it will suspend all November 2025 SNAP allotments as part of the ongoing federal government shutdown.
Ahead of the Nov. 1 deadline, NBC News interviewed 18 SNAP recipients in 11 states. Many said without benefits, they would only have enough food to last for two to three days before they would need to rely on charities or delay paying their bills.
