Ponta da Piedade (literally “Point of Mercy”) is a headland located ~3 km south of Lagos, on Portugal’s Algarve coast. ☀️ It’s famous for dramatic sandstone / limestone cliffs (up to about 20 metres high) with lots of interesting shapes: grottoes, sea arches, caves. 🏖️ There’s also a lighthouse, Farol da Ponta da Piedade, built in 1913 on the site of a former chapel (Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Piedade.
