Have you ever been lucky enough to spot a red-tailed black cockatoo? You can tell the species apart from others by their distinct, sunset-coloured tail feathers. Both active and noisy, individuals tend to spend most of the day feeding. The cockatoos are endemic to Australia—found in all mainland states, with five distinct subspecies occurring in eight discrete populations across the continent.
