SDLP MLA Cara Hunter, who was targeted by deepfake video, urges legal clampdown

SDLP MLA Cara Hunter is today bringing forward an Assembly motion calling for urgent action on AI-driven abuse and online violence against women and girls. It comes after the UK Government confirmed plans to outlaw the creation of non-consensual intimate images using AI and the apps that enable it. Cara’s motion calls on the Justice Minister to ensure these practices are outlawed in Northern Ireland at the same time as Britain, so victims here are not left waiting months or years for protection.
