Owners of the property, World Culture Tourism Village, have previously stated that they would like to re-open parts of Old Sydney Town to the public. Old Sydney Town at Somersby has been heritage-listed by the National Trust. Old Sydney Town was a former heritage theme park that was opened by Prime Minister Gough Whitlam on Australia Day in 1975. The park recreated the outrageous days of Sydney Cove in 1810. Visitors could experience the early years of the British colonial settlement - musters, floggings, flag raisings, convict 'collections', magistrates court sessions, convict weddings, pistol duels and funerals.
